Ciel holds a Bachelor's degree in Illustration from Sheridan College — one of Canada's most respected art and design institutions. In 2024, Ciel took a significant step in her artistic development by becoming a formal student of Heng Yue (岳恒) of New Assassin Tattoo (岳阳新刺客) — one of the most respected masters of stone carving and biomechanical tattooing in the world. Under his mentorship, Ciel immersed herself in the philosophical and technical foundations of these demanding styles.

At the conclusion of her training, Ciel achieved first place in her 2024 graduating cohort — making her the first North American student in the Yue family lineage (岳家军) to claim the top position. This is not a minor distinction. The standard of training within this lineage is exceptional, and graduating at the top of her cohort confirms what her clients in Markham and Toronto have long recognized: Ciel operates at a level of technical mastery that very few artists anywhere in North America can match.

Stone Carving Tattoo

Under the direct tutelage of Heng Yue, Ciel has developed an exceptionally deep understanding of stone carving tattooing — the technically demanding style that replicates the three-dimensional texture and weight of ancient carved stone. Her graduation placing confirmed that her grasp of this style is among the finest in the world.

Biomechanical Tattoo

Biomechanical tattooing merges human anatomy with the aesthetics of machinery — gears, cables, pistons, and circuitry woven into skin as though revealing the engineering beneath. She went one better the following year. At the 2026 Nix Tattoo Show — Canada's longest-running tattoo convention, held annually in Toronto — Ciel placed 2nd in the "Best Medium Color" category, competing against leading artists from across North America. Climbing from 3rd to 2nd in the same category in consecutive years, her command of color now stands alongside the technical depth she's known for in stone carving and biomechanical work.

A Family of Artists: Meet Echo

Ciel doesn't work alone. Her twin sister Echo — also a Sheridan College graduate, also trained under Master Heng Yue — is Wild Crane's resident artist, specializing in Chinese ink wash and black and grey realism.
